the village and a new idea was born, instead of creating a house, they decided to expand and share their vision with other people by converting a small traditional swiss hotel into a chalet hotel that inspired by the latin word for mountain goat and after the black and white goats that roam the valleys and peaks around saas-fee. unique to the valais region, these adventurous creatures reflect the hallmark of the capra. our design the capra’s warm atmosphere is designed to complement the traditional village setting and dramatic alpine landscape. soothing colours, organic materials, and rich textures are inspired by nature – wood-panelled walls, brushed tweeds, stone bathrooms. glowing log fires are reflected in crystal ceiling lights, evocative of the sparkling glaciers framed in floor-to-ceiling windows. the design of the hotel has been undertaken by a group of swiss architects complemented by uk interior design management team, with a focus on fusing the alpine traditional character with modern luxury. all the furnishing has been designed bespoke, specifically for the capra. the lighting concept was designed by leading swiss design team and is based on the theme “fire
